Terms of Use

The Sweetpotato Knowledge Portal is supported by the International Potato Center (CIP), and by the Sweetpotato Action for Security and Health in Africa (SASHA) funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

 

The Portal is user-driven. Content is contributed by all registered members. As a registered member, you have rights to publish content, such as publications, news, impact stories events and job announcements, audio-visual materials, manuals and toolkits. You can also set up collaborative project spaces or join discussion forums. You can find experts to support your sweetpotato project, establish contact and collaboration with other members.

 

You can add copyright or license restrictions for the use of your knowledge on the portal, but as a general rule we encourage the contributions should be considered global public goods where the users give due recognition of authorship.

 

Where the content has not been produced by you, we request that you do not upload files and/or software that may be protected by intellectual property laws.

You may print, download, and store articles and other information for your own convenience and for their personal, non-commercial use. The right to resell or redistribute them or to compile or create derivative works from any content on this Portal will have to be sought from the individual contributors.

 

The content does not necessarily reflect the views of the organizations, nor those of the governments of the countries in which these organizations are located.

 

As a user, you are responsible for using the Portal for lawful purposes only. You may not use the Portal in ways that could damage, disable or impair the servers, and/or interfere with other users’ ability to use the Portal. You may not, for example, undertake any activity that seeks to deliberately interfere with the security features installed on the Portal. Do not attempt to upload files that contain viruses or that you know to be corrupted.  In addition you may not attempt to gain unauthorized access other users’ passwords.

 

You are free to join any of the discussion Forums on the Portal. Pease use the Forums only to send and receive messages and that are related to the particular Forum. Do not use a Forum to defame, harass, threaten or violate the legal rights of any other user, or to post indecent or unlawful material.

 

Whereas the Portal can be used to share information about interesting products and tools that will improve implementation of sweetpotato-related activities, we request that you do not advertise or sell any goods or services, conduct or forward surveys, contests or chain letters that may not be in line with the goals of this Portal.

The Portal includes links to external websites, uploaded by fellow users. The Portal administrators are not responsible or liable for the accuracy of the content, Privacy Policies and Terms of Use of those websites.

 

You use this Portal at your own risk. Under no circumstances, including, but not limited to negligence, shall the Portal administrators bear any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages.

 

The Sweetpotato Knowledge Portal has no control over the content submitted by other contributors and other users. By using the Portal, you agree to look to the contributor of content for any claims you may have regarding that content. The Portal administrators are not liable for any conduct of the user, and should a dispute arise with one of the users, you will seek to resolve those disputes directly with the contributor and/or user in question.
