Call for papers: Multi-stakeholder Research & Innovation Platforms in Agricultural Research for Development

The African Journal of Rural Development (AFJRD) has dedicated a Supplementary Issue to research, processes and related works on multi-stakeholder engagements in Agricultural Research and Development (ARD) in an effort to promote dissemination of information to various stakeholders. This is, therefore, to invite submission of papers with a focus on multi-stakeholder research and innovations.

The African Journal of Rural Development (AFJRD) is an online open access scientific journal that publishes articles on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, and December). It is a multi-disciplinary peer-reviewed journal with an ultimate purpose of sharing and increasing the depth of knowledge on aspects of sustainable rural development. The Journal welcomes submission of manuscripts that meet the general criteria of domain significance and scientific excellence. All articles published in AFJRD will be peer reviewed.

The AFJRD publishes:

  1. Original Research articles: These should describe new and carefully confirmed findings. In addition, experimental procedures and/or approach used by the study should be given in sufficient detail for others to verify work done. The length of a full paper should be the minimum required to describe and interpret the work clearly.
  2. Short Communications: A Short Communication is suitable for recording the results of complete small investigations or giving details of new models or hypotheses, innovative approaches and methods, techniques or apparatus.
  3. Reviews: Submissions of reviews and perspectives covering topics of current interest are welcome and encouraged. Reviews manuscripts are also peer reviewed.

The AFJRD is hosted by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), a Network of 66 Universities in Africa. The Supplementary Issue on multi-stakeholder research and innovations is inspired by the increased focus on multi-stakeholder actions that bring together Research and Practitioners in knowledge co-creation. These engagements have for the last couple of years been manifested in projects and undertakings including the Platform for African and European Partnerships for Agricultural Research and Development (PAEPARD), the Humid-Tropics, Universities, Business and Research in Agricultural Innovation (UNIBRAIN), the Africa Highland Initiative, the sub-Saharan Africa  Challenge Programmes, and the African Agribusiness Incubator Network (AAIN); among others. These undertakings have generated useful knowledge and the proposed Supplementary Issue is intended to promote information sharing and catalyze further needed actions in Agricultural Research and Innovations through dissemination of information to various stakeholders.
