Dr. Thomas van Mourik has joined the International Potato Center (CIP) as Country Manager for Ghana and Project Manager for the Healthy Gold for Ghana project. The project is working to improve vitamin A intake in rural and urban households utilizing OFSP.
Tom, a Dutch national, holds a PhD in Production Ecology and Agronomy from Wageningen University and a masters in Biology from University of Amsterdam. He brings over 11 years of experience in agricultural research for development in Africa and 3 years of nutrition-sensitive agriculture program, including the promotion of production, storage, processing and consumption of OFSP.
Tom was previously the Regional Manager of the CHANGE Project for Helen Keller’s International Africa Regional Office in Dakar, Senegal and previously as Regional Project Scientist for the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) for West and Central Africa regional office in Bamako, Mali. While at HKI, Tom became a member of the SPHI Marketing, Processing and Utilization CoP.
