COURSE: Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC) in collaboration with the Building Nutritious Food Baskets (BNFB) invites applications from eligible participants to attend a course on Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation. The course will be held between 6th – 14th April 2018 in Arusha-Tanzania. The Tanzania Food and Nutrition Center (TFNC) is a government institution established by an Act No. 24 of 1973 (also as amended in Act No. 3 of 1995) to provide research, advocacy, education and training services aimed at the prevention, control and eradication of malnutrition in Tanzania. Currently, the institution is partnering with a consortium of partners to implement BNFB project. These partners include the International Potato Centre (CIP), International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), the Forum for Agriculture Research in Africa (FARA) and HarvestPlus, along with the Government of Tanzania through its national institutions, including the Sugarcane Research Institute and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. The BNFB project targets to reduce hidden hunger by catalyzing sustainable investment for the utilization of biofortified crops at a national scale.

This highly practical course will equip participants with knowledge, attitudes and skills on: (a) identifying project areas and objectives, and leading project teams; (b) preparing project proposals; (c) reviewing project proposals; (d) approving projects and committing resources; and (e) implementing projects, monitoring and evaluation, that include theory of change. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

• Design innovative and engendered project proposals on biofortification effectively to access resources to implement it;

 • Develop main parts of a draft project proposal on biofortification including theory of change and M&E framework matrix;

• Identify approaches and methods to monitor and evaluate the project proposals appropriately.

Fees and sponsorship

The course fee is USD 800 (TZS 1,840,000) to cover for accommodation and meals including tea/coffee and snacks, training materials and learning-by-doing exercises. A few scholarships to cover tuition, accommodation and travel expenses will be provided. Participants are encouraged to apply for this sponsorship indicating why they should be considered. Certification Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

A maximum of 20 participants will be accepted to foster a conducive learning environment.
