Presentation: Sweetpotato

Sweetpotato (SP) is a valued crop ranking 7th global and 4th in developing countries. In this presentation, highlights of the SP importance particularly human nutrition, animal feed and industrial raw materials values. Farming practices in Egypt are outlined, and the nutritional trends. Despite sophisticated farm practices, pest and diseases prevent the crop from reaching its maximum agricultural potential in Egypt. This bore adoption of ideas to improve the sweetpotato crop as advantages attributed to this include better food prices and nutritional intakes with increased production. It concludes with an outline of AGERI sweetpotato activities, their expected outcomes, and future research prospects.
