This is a script interview with sweetpotato farmers in Uganda. The interview is based on recent researcher’s discovery of new crops friendly to farmers such as Orange fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP). OFSP is aimed to address problems that African agricultural system is facing such as climate change, pest and diseases, poor soil quality and other problems which are fueling hunger and poverty to large scale. Unique OFSP characteristics are such as off season performance, nutritional quality especially Vitamin A, health promoting, high yielding with income generating potential upon selling surplus. This interview concludes by emphasizing the importance of starting with disease free planting material (vines), further pest and disease control can be curbed with simple conventional control practices.
