Guidelines for Integrating Nutrition into Agriculture Enterprise Mixes in Uganda

The guidelines for Integration into Agriculture Enterprises Mixes in Uganda is a document by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. These guidelines aim to direct agriculture extension and community development workers and their agents to support an enterprise mix development process that also considers nutrition.

 

The book is divided into three chapters. Chapter one is an introduction with the background, objectives and how to use the guidelines, and a justification for the integration of nutrition into agriculture. Chapter two delves deeper into the agriculture zoning strategy in Uganda and the enterprise mix approach which is further divided into the agro-ecological zones, the agriculture zoning strategy and an analysis of selected enterprises in agro-ecological zones. Chapter three is on the criteria for integrating nutrition into agricultural enterprise mixes. This is further divided into an overview, an analysis of regular income flow, production of nutrient-rich food, protection of the environment and ensuring household resilience, and gender and family care considerations.
