This presentation shows SP breeding platform in West Africa (WA). Briefly, it entails activities, progress and challenges within Ghana, Nigeria, Burkinafaso and among other WA countries. The major ongoing activities include breeding of sweet and unsweetpotato via local and exotic varieties, the study includes farmer participatory to develop lines adaptable to different user needs. Challenges outlined, lack of governments support, low staff with no talent development, inability to meet high demand for planting materials, inadequate virus cleaning facilities and invitro germplasm storage and funding challenges. Despite the challanges most of the breeding activities are ongoing.
