This working paper highlights the challenges and opportunities for producing sweetpotato planting material in Eastern and Southern Africa, where there is a huge potential for the crop to contribute to food and income security. Dissemination of intensive methods of conserving planting material using domestic waste water is recommended as a partial solution.
